Hints From JK Herself:
Book seven is the second half of what was supposed to
be a two part story (book 6 being the first half). Below are a list of “clues”
JK Rowling has given through various interviews, etc. about what the final
Harry Potter book will contain. These are not rumors; these are things you
can actually count on happening.
1. We have already been told that she has written the final chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and that it will give an overview of what happens to the (surviving) characters after they leave Hogwarts (assuming they even go back).
-Rowling has stated that the last word in the series currently is "scar", though she makes no promises that she'll keep it that way.
2. All of the previous unanswered questions will be resolved. These include:
-More info about Sirius' death and the communication mirror Sirius gave Harry
-What Dudley saw or felt when he was attacked by the Dementors (book 5)
-Dumbledore and Petunia’s interaction
-Information on Harry’s scar
-Dumbledore’s “look of triumph” when he heard that Voldemort used Harry’s blood to resurrect himself in book IV (apparently the fact that Voldemort shares Harry’s blood will be significant). We will also learn what spell Dumbledore tried to use on Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic.
-More information on the rivalry between Snape and Sirius.
-What form Snape’s Boggart and Patronus take on.
-More details about Dumbledore’s earlier life.
-Important information regarding Lily Evans and the Potter’s profession will be revealed.
3. Some past characters will make another appearance. These include (so far):
Dolores Umbridge, Rita Skeeter, Viktor Krum, and the Weasley’s Ford
Anglia. Dumbledore’s brother, Aberforth, is supposed to make an appearance
(you may recall that JK confirmed that Aberforth is indeed the bar tender
at the Hog’s Head).
4. The Weasley’s will be in the line of fire because of they are known
among Death Eaters as “blood traitors.” (Info comes from a Cub
Reporter Press Conference)
5. The spouses of some of the Hogwart’s professors will play key roles.
6. There will be no quidditch whatsoever.
7. The choice between what is right and what is easy will continue to be the
main theme in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
8. We will find out the significance of Harry having his mother’s eyes,
and why it is significant that Lily’s wand was good for charms.
9. We will find out if anyone else was at Godric’s Hollow the night
Lily and James were killed. JK Rowling has so far refused to answer that question,
so we can assume it is significant.
10. Two more characters with large roles will die than originally planned, while one character will get a reprieve (from Richard & Judy interview). When finding out which characters were dying, Rowling's husband said, "No, not that one!"
11. There will be a lot of explanations and the tying up of loose ends because JK feels she's boxed herself in a bit in parts of the other books (from Richard & Judy interview).
