Balls:
Quaffle: This ball is red. The ball is about the size of a Muggle soccer ball. This is the ball used for scoring goals worth 10 points a piece.
Bludger: There are two of these, both are black. The Bludger is smaller than a Quaffle. The Bludgers fly around rudley attempting to knock players off their brooms. It is the job of the Beaters to guard their teammates from these vicious balls.
Golden Snitch: Only one, and like it's name, the ball is gold. This is easily the most important ball of the game. Tiny and very fast, this winged ball is very hard to spot and catch. When the snitch is caught, the game ends. The snitch is worth 150 points.
Positions:
Chaser: There are three chasers per teams. The Chasers' job is to pass the Quaffle amongst each other around the field to score goals.
Keeper: There is only one per team. The Keeper guards the goal posts to keep the other team from scoring.
Beater: There are two per team. The Beaters use a stick to knock the Bludgers away from their own teammates and towards the other team's players.
Seeker: There is only one per team. The Seeker's job is to fly around until he/she spots the Golden Snitch. Catching the Golden Snitch ends the game.
What exactly is quidditch you ask? Quidditch is basically soccer on brooms. While that is an oversimplification, that is the basic premise. Each team has three hoop goals for the keeper to protect. Each team tries to score as many goals as possible while the seeker for each team attempts to catch the golden snitch so their team recieves 150 points and the match ends. Bludgers fly around the field while the beaters try to hit them at the opposing players and protect their team from bludgers aspiring to attack teammates. The trick of quidditch comes into play with the seeker. The seeker has to pay attention to the score at all times. If their keeper is absolutely horrible and the seeker's team is down by more then 150 points, it is not wise to catch the snitch. Why do you ask? Well, the snitch ends the match. Even though the snitch awards 150 points to the seeker's team, if they are down by more then 150, they still lose.
